February 2008 – The Comet Newspaper, Stevenage
Assistant to Editor and various other members of the journalism team.
One week spent researching news stories, writing articles, liaising with clients over the telephone and collecting quotes for the newspaper.
Involved a large amount of negotiating and working closely with others, from a variety of ages
August 2010 – Artist Liaison Officer, Underage Festival, London
One day’s work experience under the tutelage of Trashed Magazine in the artist liaison area backstage, dealing with musicians requests and time schedules, working with their management to organize riders etc
September 2010 - July 2011 - Senior Reporter, Music Editor and Layout Designer for The Barclay Broadsheet
Two academic years work on the sixth form newspaper, involving researching stories of musical and local interest. Notable achievements including the launch of 'Sheet Music', the music section of the paper, and in later months, being in charge of the entire design of the paper as well as proof reading and editing other students articles for print.
February 2011 - Layout Designer and Reporter for Grease: The Musical Programme (school production)
Creative control over the design and layout of the official programme for The Barclay School's production of Grease, all proceeds of which were donated to charity.
February 2011 – Time Out Magazine, London
One day’s work experience writing last minute copy for the Trashed magazine supplement on getting into the creative industries. Said supplement was then included as an insert within Time Out Magazine.
July 2011 – Guest Presenter for The Guardian Music Podcast
Standing in for regular host Alexis Petridis on an Underage Festival special, this job involved preparing notes on a selection of songs and leading a discussion with two other young people about said tracks. For audio, listen here:
March 2011 to March 2012 – Freelance writer for lovemusicnews.co.uk
Responsibilities included writing up press releases on current news stories, as well as researching my own stories. Most notably, I attended the premiere and press conference screening of Biffy Clyro's live concert DVD. Past work can be found on the website here
September 2011 – June 2012 – Music Correspondent for The Huddersfield Student Newspaper
Writing, researching and gathering interview material for inclusion in the student newspaper, attending gigs for reviews, writing columns etc. This led to a position as Music Editor in the next years editorial team, as seen below.
November 2011 - Q Magazine
Two day's of personal masterclass with Q Magazine's editor Paul Rees, focusing on how to write reviews. Was continued in March 2012 with a full weeks work experience.

March 2012 - Q Magazine
Follow on from work experience in November 2011. One week's full work experience in editorial office, researching stories, sourcing images, writing pitches and sample articles. Also included a feedback session on my work with senior editor Matt Mason, that yielded positive reactions to my writing.
June 2012 - Music Editor of T'Hud, The University of Huddersfield's Student Magazine
A promoted position following on from a years worth of contributions to the Student Newspaper in it's previous form. Following a complete rebranding, my current resposibilities involve seeking and generating content, dealing with press companies to book interviews/press passes and review material, sourcing new writers, setting deadlines and managing the current team of writers to ensure their copy is appropriate for publication. Unofficial duties also include writing content for other sections, including lifestyle and fashion, as well as copy editing and assisting with layout.
2012 Onwards - Freelance Writing
Predominantly for local Yorkshire based music zines, including Vibrations, Leeds Music Scene and Counterfeit, plus online publications such as The 405 and NME.com.
May 2013 - Founder of Judy's Affordable Vintage Magazine
As part of a University project, I pitched the idea of a promotional magalogue to Judy Berger, head of Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair. Along with two coursemates, I theorised and delivered two 40 page magazines which were distributed digitally to the members of Judy's online mailing list, and promoted across social media, I was responsible for the entire design of this publication, and also contributed original journalism and photography. Post graduation, I have continued this project on and remain as editor.
2013 Onwards - Homemaker Magazine
As of September Issue 9, I have been responsible for writing and sourcing images for various features in Homemaker Magazine.
July 2014 - Office Assistant and Copywriter for Beacons Festival
I spent the summer of 2014 helping out in the Leeds office of Beacons Festival, primarily copywriting for the official festival programme, email newsletters and social media. I also assisted with invoicing the booked bands and general office administration tasks.
